Clayton Kershaw reeled off a total of 15 strikeouts at Tropicana Field where
the Erie County Avengers beat the Hershey Squirts by the score of 5 to
1.
Kershaw(7-1) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Hershey offense. He
didn't allow much, just 4 hits and no walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop
from 3.38 to 3.11. Erie County totaled 9 hits on the night.
Game 2 -

Squirts......... 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 6 1 Pomeranz
Jake Odorizzi(4-4) and Drew Pomeranz(0-3) locked horns in a pitcher's duel
with Odorizzi and the Erie County Avengers coming out on top of the Hershey
Squirts 3 to 1.
Erie County took the lead off Pomeranz in the first inning scoring one runner
on 3 base hits. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.
Odorizzi got relief help from Shawn Tolleson who gained credit for his 4th
save.

In a close game it was the Erie County Avengers 6, the Hershey Squirts 4 at
Tropicana Field.
Erie County had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. Nelson Cruz opened up the scoring as he hit a
bases-empty home run. After an out was recorded, Eric Hosmer came to bat and
drew a walk. James McCann then lined a base-hit. Gregor Blanco was up next
and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. A.J. Ramos was
perfect in relief and got the save, his 2nd.
Andrew Cashner(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and
allowing 4 runs. The loss was charged to Alex Colome(0-1) in relief. He
pitched 2 and 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 walks.

Michael Wacha came through with a solid 7 innings and designated hitter Nelson
Cruz slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI at Tropicana Field where the Erie County
Avengers beat the Hershey Squirts 5 to 0.
Wacha(6-1) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 3 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings dropping his ERA from 2.85 to 2.52. Erie
County out-hit Hershey for the game, 14 hits to 4.

No carryover injuries.
Kyle Gibson(0-3) was charged with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits
and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
