Madison Bumgarner went the distance as the Wheatfield Whiffers bested the
Hershey Squirts 7 to 2 at Marlins Park.
Hershey was unable to claim the lead after Wheatfield went ahead in the 5th
inning scoring a single run. Wheatfield banged out 10 hits on the night.
Bumgarner(1-1) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Johnny
Cueto(4-2) absorbed the loss. He allowed Wheatfield 7 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings of work.

In a game for the baseball purist, Joe Blanton(1-0) and Garrett Richards(2-4)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Wheatfield Whiffers finally emerged
victorious over Hershey Squirts, 2 to 1.
Wheatfield scored 1 run in the decisive 6th inning. Luke Gregerson was great
in relief and recorded his 2nd save.

Marco Estrada went 7 solid innings as the Wheatfield Whiffers defeated the
Hershey Squirts by a score of 5 to 0 at Marlins Park.
Wheatfield scored 3 runs in the decisive 4th inning. After an out was
recorded, Manny Machado opened up the rally as he reached on an error. After
another out, Brett Gardner came to bat and doubled resulting in a run.
Wilson Ramos then popped a two-run clout over the fence. Wheatfield managed
only 5 hits on the night.
Estrada(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 7 innings. The losing
pitcher was Patrick Corbin(0-1). He gave up only 5 hits and no walks in 7
innings.

Josh Reddick had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Erie County Avengers topped the North
Tonawanda Lumber Jocks by a score of 7 to 6 at Great American Bpk.
Reddick provided much of the offense. He cleared the fences for a two-run
home run in the 2nd inning, singled which brought home a run in the 4th
inning, lined a base-hit in the 7th inning and laced a base-knock in the 8th
inning. Shawn Tolleson was great in relief and recorded his 3rd save.
The winning pitcher was Jeff Manship(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Shawn Kelley(0-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 3 hits in 1
and 2/3 innings.

Reddick enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' in the 4th inning and tripled plating two runs in the 6th inning.
Erie County finished with 16 hits while North Tonawanda ended up with 13.
Jake Odorizzi(3-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. Carlos Martinez(0-2) was the loser. He surrended 3 homeruns
in his 6 innings.

Andrew Heaney had an impressive outing as the Erie County Avengers defeated
the North Tonawanda Lumber Jocks 4 to 0 at Great American Bpk.
North Tonawanda found themselves trailing quickly as the Erie County bats came
through in the first inning scoring a single run utilizing 3 base hits. That
scoring would be all that was needed. Erie County had 7 hits for the night.
Heaney(2-3) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Jason
Hammel(1-1) was hit with the loss. 'Heaney took our guys to school' Pat
Maggio said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make my job a whole
lot easier!'

First baseman Kendrys Morales slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Great
American Bpk as the North Tonawanda Lumber Jocks pulled off a dramatic
comeback beating the Erie County Avengers by the count of 3 to 2.
North Tonawanda came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 hits. Kris Bryant led off the inning for North Tonawanda when he
doubled. After an out was recorded, Morales came to bat and bombed a two-run
dinger. Francisco Rodriguez was great in relief and recorded his 3rd save.
The victory went to Andrew Chafin(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Shawn Tolleson(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. Pat Maggio was all
smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a
beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could
have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes
baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til
its over.'
