Clayton Kershaw dominated striking out 11 St. Louis batters at Angel Stadium
where the Erie County Avengers beat the St. Louis Browns 5 to

Kershaw(4-0) pitched a solid game. He surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks in 7 and
1/3 innings. Erie County and St. Louis each finished the night with 7 hits.
Kershaw got help from Jeff Manship who was credited with his 1st save. Chris
Sale(0-1) was charged with the loss. Erie County knocked him around a bit,
as he gave up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
'I had my good stuff tonight.' Kershaw said. 'As the game went along I started
to get the feeling that I was going to strike out a bunch of hitters.'

County Avengers by a score of 7 to 3.
St. Louis set the tone of the game in the first inning as they scored 2 runs
on 3 base hits. St. Louis finished with 11 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Kyle Hendricks(1-0) who went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Hendricks got relief help from David Robertson who gained credit for his 2nd
save. Andrew Heaney(1-3) was the losing pitcher.

Michael Wacha went 8 strong innings as the Erie County Avengers defeated the
St. Louis Browns by a score of 1 to 0 at Angel Stadium.
The game's lone run was scored in the 6th inning. After an out was recorded,
Erick Aybar drew a walk. Aybar was safe at second on a stolen base. One out
later, Ian Kinsler then doubled scoring the run. Erie County finished with
just 4 hits in the victory.
Wacha(4-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 8 innings. Ken Giles recorded
the save, his 4th. Chris Young(0-1) was hit with the loss.

Carlos Carrasco mowed down 10 St. Louis batters as the Erie County Avengers
defeated the St. Louis Browns by a score of 2 to 1 at Angel
Stadium.
Carrasco(2-1) was simply too much for the St. Louis batters. He was stingy on
the mound, allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings dropping his
ERA from 3.38 to 2.80. St. Louis had a chance to come back in the 9th but
they came up short.
Shawn Tolleson earned the save, his 2nd. Noah Syndergaard(1-1) took the loss.
He gave up 2 runs and 9 hits in 9 innings. Carrasco, when asked about his
10 strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get
20 and we lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since
we won it feels great!'
Weird low scoring series with these power teams. Pitching and Ballparks played a factor....
